The meeting was called to order by President Jean Peterson. The meeting was held in the Blooming Prairie Branch Library. Fifteen members were present, as well as guest Karla Iacovino.

Minutes: The minutes were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report: We have a balance of $2,843.11 in our checking account. The majority of that will be used for scholarships.

Committee Reports:

  • Program – Apologies were given for last month’s last minute change. Our April meeting will be a presentation on poetry by Loretta Ingvalson at the Pizza Cellar.
  • Membership – No report
  • Village Affair – No activity at this time. This will be the 46th year of the event.

Old Business: After Pam Folkens spoke to the Women of Today, it was decided to order 20 aprons. They will be used at both Village Affair and Santa House. The members agreed to designate $200 for the purchase of the aprons. Heidi Heimgartner will take care of the purchase.

New Business:

  • Nominating Committee: Jean will not serve another term as president. Jeannette Hauschildt is willing to serve a full term as treasurer. Please consider volunteering for the president’s position.
  • Scholarship Committee: those serving will be Jeannette Hauschildt, Beth Krebs, Liza DeBoer, and Naomi Hansen. Beth will coordinate with the high school.
  • State Convention: The convention will be held on April 27-28 in Faribault. Mary Malherek and Marilyn Meshke may be attending.
  • Members to vote on by laws amendments: These will be available online.
  • Association fees: The state has raised annual dues from $49 to $59. When the dues are requested to be paid in May, the cost will be $70 annually.


  • Tri Branch Lunch – we are invited to attend on April 7 in Northfield at Ruth’s on Stafford. The speaker will be Tim Penny from the Southeast Minnesota Initiative Foundation.
  • Naomi will be conducting an 8 week yoga session through Community Education. It will focus on Mind-Body Connection.
