October 12, 2017

Call to Order: President Jean Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room at First Lutheran Church. Ten members were present, along with our speaker Julie Klock.

Minutes: The minutes from the May meeting were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s report: There is $2,986.01 in the checking account. Payments for Village Affair account for $2,600 of that amount.

Committee Reports:

Program:  Programs detailing the year and the contact information for the members were passed out.

Membership: No report

Scholarship: Rose Johnson and Leah Inwards each received $1,000. Thank you cards were received from both girls.

Village Affair, October 28: The committee reported that all is on schedule. Karen passed around sign up sheets. The raffle tickets and posters are ready. For the raffle basket, many items have been received including a quilted table runner and a quilted bag. More items are needed and can be brought to the October meeting or given directly to Marilyn Meshke.

Old Business:

July 2 in the park. Annika Green won the contest to guess how much money BP AAUW has given in scholarships. She received $25 in BP Bucks.

New Business:

  • Bylaws were updated and turned in to the national organization.
  • Budget – tabled until October meeting.

Announcements:

Austin AAUW will be having a Home Tour on October 8.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Program: Julie Klock instructed the group in card making. Everyone had the chance to design two cards with stamps, sticky jewels, ribbon, and paper punches.

Dessert was served by Beth and Mary.
