Minutes – November 11, 2015

The meeting was called to order.  The president thanked all those who worked at the Village Affair.

The minutes were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report:  There is a balance of $6,577.92 in the checking account.  This does not include the payment to the Women of Today of 50% of the Village Affair profits.

Committee Reports:

Program:  The December Christmas party will be held at Jean Peterson’s home.  Please bring one generous White Elephant gift for the auction and a snack to share.

Village Affair: There were a few less vendors.  The total was $4,693, down about $180.00 from the previous year. The price of the booths increased by $2 per booth; there was an increase of $38 this year.  The lunch and coffee receipts were down $150 and $82 respectively.  The delivery of lunches to the vendors was well received.  The raffle proceeds increased by $31. The janitor expense increased by 86% from $160 last year to $297.50 this year.  Advertising expenses decreased.  The Women of Today and AAUW will split the profit of $6,577.92, with $2,346.99 going to each group.

It was agreed that Village Affair will be held the last Saturday of October except when Halloween is on that Saturday.

Announcements: The Friends of the Library will be holding a new book sale beginning on Holidazzle December 4th.  Books can for ordered prior to the sale.

Pat Ille’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 11 a.m. AAUW members are encouraged to sit together.  A book will be donated to the library in Pat’s honor and a plant will be sent by the group.

Our January meeting will be held at Joanne Sorensen’s house. Please bring a dish with a story to the meeting.

February will be our book study.  Books will be available at the January meeting.
