September 2015 Meeting Minutes

October 28, 2015

The Blooming Prairie Branch of AAUW met on Thursday, September 10, 2015.  The meeting was called to order by Co-President Mary Malherek at 7:05 p.m.  Phyllis Dandelet and Suzie Pechacek were thanked for hosting the meeting.

Secretary’s report:  The minutes are posted on the blog.

Treasurer’s Report:  As of September 1, the checking account balance was $3,013.57.  This includes $2,400 in deposits for Village Affair.

Program Committee:  Joanne Sorensen and Julie Kloch presented the schedule of programs, although the order of the presentations may be subject to change.

Membership Committee:  A newspaper article was suggested to highlight AAUW.

Scholarship Committee:  Four scholarships of $650 each were awarded to Nicole Inwards, Lindsay Schiefert, Jasmine Hohenstein, and Morgan Johnson.

Village Affair:  Village Affair is scheduled for Saturday, October 24.  Members are reminded to bring their items for the raffle basket to the October meeting.  Each member is also invited to write out a recipe to be included in a book in the basket.  Presently 68 vendors have committed for 100 booths.  The price of the booths was raised $2 per booth; the cost per booth is now $24.00. Sign up sheets for food donations and job responsibilities were passed around.

Old Business:  None

New Business:

  •  The proposed budget was presented and there was a discussion of the expenses listed.  The budget will be voted on in October.
  • A thank you card was received from Nicole Inwards.
  • Karen Valentine noted that she had received a letter asking for money to support Title IX.  No action was taken although individual members are invited to donate as they choose.

The meeting was adjourned.
