Minutes
Meeting November 13, 2014
The evening began with the program “The Greenhouse Effect: Changes in Local Agriculture” by Gretchen B., owner-operator of Hilltop Greenhouse.
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 by Mary M., who thanked everyone for all the work at the Village Affair. The minutes were approved as shown on the blog and the treasurer reported a balance $6,182.43 in the checking account.
Committee Reports:
Program – Jean P. talked about the Christmas meeting at her home next month. Each member is to bring an item for the White Elephant Auction and a snack. The wine, etc. is provided by the December hostesses. Bring money for the auction and think about recipients for the money raised. We will vote at the December meeting.
Village Affair – Total profit this year was $4,877.50. We will have $1,000 more to use in our budget.
Announcements – Our police chief returned his speaking fee and specified giving it to the cancer group.
Pam has all the venders’ numbers if anyone would like to order something seen at the Affair.
Ruth announced the book options for the discussion at the February meeting. The book chosen was “I Am Malala”. Someone suggested that interested members might meet at the Pizza Cellar on January 8th to discuss “My Antonia”, another of the book choices offered. There appeared to be some interest in the idea.
Marilyn recommended “The Latecomer” and Heidi, “Prairie Silence” as good reads.
Jean reminded the group about the Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday evening to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Ardis K., Secretary
