Monthly Minutes

Meeting May 8, 2014

      Following a lovely dinner at the Owatonna Country Club, the meeting was called to order by Marilyn M. The minutes were approved as found on the blog. The treasurer reported a balance of  $3,638.79. Three thousand of that will go to this year’s scholarships. Beth asked that next year’s dues be paid this evening.

Old Business:

Nominations for President/Co-President – Loretta Ingvalson has agreed to be Membership Chair. In the absence of anyone willing to take the presidency, Mary M. and Marilyn M. will serve for one year.

New Business:

• Scholarship Committee report (BPHS Awards Banquet) – The committee still needs to met to decide on the final choice(s) of recipients. The Awards Banquet is on Wed. of next week. The committee will meet on Monday. Austra commented that there used to be a rating form and one is needed, possibly revamped. This will be addressed later.
• AAUW Dues – Dues are $60 for the year. A form was passed out for members to sign up for hosting meetings, which will still be at the High School library for the coming year.
• Member News / Updates – Mary M. attended the Mini-quad dinner. The speaker Wm. Sauder was excellent. The program was about Rachel Carson, who wrote “Silent Spring”. We are still invited to join their group, including hosting, etc.                               Our next meeting is Sept. 11. Suggestions for next year’s programs are welcome.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
