Meeting April 10, 2014

      Following a presentation by Tanya Paley, project coordinator for the Steele County Safe and Drug Free Coalition, the meeting was opened at 8:35 P.M. by Diane O.

Minutes: The minutes were approved as posted on the blog.

Treasurer’s Report: The balance on hand was $3,713,79.

Committee Reports: 

      Program: The surprise dinner for next month has been arranged. Sign-up should specify going, not going, maybe, and willing to drive. Departure of car pools will be at 5:30. Another sheet was passed asking for program ideas.

      Membership: Julie is ready to officially join tonight, with all information filled out.

      Public Policy: Members are asked to read the Blog.

      Scholarship: May 14 is Sr. Awards night, giving the committee three weeks to work on choosing recipient(s). The committee decides how many students to choose. A motion passed to allow $3,000 to divide into scholarships.

Old Business:

      There was no vote on new officers as no one has made a firm commitment to Diane and Nancy. The term is for two years and they asked for volunteers at the meeting.

      Julie was verified as appointed to the Scholarship Committee.

New Business:

      a. No one is going to the AAUW State Convention.

      b. Membership news: Heidi announced the memorial for Agnes Markham will be on May 3.

Announcements:

      The Tri-County luncheon is April 26. The speaker is William Sauder. Members should let Nancy know if they plan to attend.

      The Winona branch luncheon will be May 3. RSVP by April 25.

The meeting adjourned at 8:57 P.M.
