Meeting February 14, 2013
February Program: “City of Blooming Prairie Visions and Dreams”
Mayor H. Peterson and City Administrator, Mike Jones, and City Council members: Tara Gimbel and Mary Kittelson.
Following the program presentation, members and guests enjoyed some delicious refreshments, after which the meeting was called to order by Nancy Vaillancourt.
Minutes: The minutes of the previous month were approved as written.
Treasurer’s Report: In the absence of the treasurer, Nancy reported a checking account balance of $4,212.96. She filled in the check provided for the program payment, specifying that it be used by the city for the swimming pool.
Committee Reports:
Program – The program on March 14 on Bullying will be in the H.S. library following our business meeting, which will begin at 6:30 instead of the usual 7PM. There will be posters to hand out for publicity as well as a story for the paper. Lunch will be cookies and will be served to the public as well as our members.
Membership – No report.
Old Business:
Village Affair: The responsibility/timeline/volunteer needs sheet was discussed, as well as scholarship sizes, profits from previous Affairs, whether other groups have been approached to help or take over, etc. The group requested other monetary information be provided for the next meeting and approved approaching Women of Today about interest in the Village Affair, and checking on booth price ideas.
Determination of speaker fee recipient: The money will go toward the BP Pool.
Announcements:
March 14th program: “We’ve All Been Bullied, Now How Does It Stop” offered in collaboration with BP Community Education. Guest speaker – Vangie Castro, member of Gov. Dayton’s Task Force on the Prevention of School Bullying.
