Meeting Minutes October 11,2012

Twelve members were present to hear a presentation of the Health Care Initiative by our guest speaker Patti Fritz, Minnesota State Representative, who helped author the bill in Washington.

Following this, the meeting was called to order at 8:15 by our president, Diane O.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes of the last meeting were approved as written.

Treasurer’s Report:  The checking account balance is $2,408.61. The proposed budget for 2012/2013 was passed out for members to take home and study.

Committee Reports:

• Program Committee:  The program for November, “Let’s Cook and Talk”, will be presented by Marilyn L. Mary M. will check on getting the Home Economics room for the night.
• Membership Committee:  No report.
• Public Policy Committee:  No report.
• Scholarship Committee: no report.

Old Business:  An updated program brochure was passed out.

New Business:

• Budget Review:  The proposed budget will be voted on next month.
• Village Affair:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Committee Update:  The story was submitted to the paper, but the pictures did not get printed. Beth T. will provide the noon meal, serving the same menu as last year. Austra H. will do the table decorations. The charge for pop will go up to $2. Members were reminded to get the posters distributed. There are 61 exhibitors lined up so far our of 95 spaces. Income at the end of last year’s Affair was $360 short of the previous year. So far we have $1,900; please continue to get more new exhibitors. The sign-up sheet was passed around for baking for the Concession Stand – 9×13 pans of bars or pies.

Chairs for Next Year:   Volunteers are sought for chairman positions. Karen V. will take the Concession Stand chairmanship.

• January 2013 Book Club Meeting:  Members were asled tp write down book title suggestions and pass them in tonight.
• Member News/Updates: A thank you note from Sue P. was read. It was realized that the date of the invitation from Owatonn’s AAUW was the same date as our next meeting. We will be asking for a change of date on the invitation.

  Announcements:  The next meeting is November 8, the program, “Let’s Cook and Talk”, presented by Marilyn L.
