December 2011 / January 2012 Meeting Minutes
The meeting on January 12, 2o12 was called to order at 7:05 pm by Pres. Marilyn M. She welcomed the group participants which included: Loretta I, Jean P, Pam F, Heidi H, Nancy V, Beth K, Karen V, Phyllis D, and Suzi P.
Minutes of Dec meeting were discussed. 16 members in attendance in December. At that meeting, Karen V volunteered to be Branch Historian for a time. The only formal action taken at the December meeting was voting upon the White Elephant Auction proceeds of $706. The group decided by unanimous vote upon a motion of Betty B (2ned by Jean P) on Dec 8 to forward the following monies: $500 to Steele County Historical Society (SCHS), and remaining $206 to another charity item. [SECRETARY’S NOTE: This motion was revisited at our January meeting under New Business.]
Treasurer Beth K reported that there was $4065.61 in our checking account. The $500 auction monies were sent to the SCHS, with the $206 held, pending a new motion.
Committee Reports
Program: Loretta I shared the details of our February meeting topic and speaker. Questions for our guest, Supt Barry Olson, will be welcomed.
Membership: Phyllis D had no report
Public Policy: Diane O no report submitted
LAF: Karen V no report
Educational Equity: Marilyn W no report
Education Foundations: Leanne H no report submitted
Diversity: Mary M: no report submitted
Scholarship Cmte: the group determined that the new members of its committee are Ardis K and Marilyn W, with Nancy V and Leanne H returning as members
Village Affair: no report
Old Business
The $200 remaining White Elephant proceeds were discussed. In light of new information on the proposed charity, Beth V made a motion to change our recipient to the Boys & Girls Club of BP. Phyllis D seconded the motion. Motion passed.
New Business
Marilyn M reminded us that the Nominating Cmte will be appointed at the Feb Mtg and will present a slate of new officers in March to be voted upon in April. Positions up for election this year are President and Secretary. Volunteers for these positions will be rewarded with our gratitude!
Announcements
State Convention in Brainerd scheduled for April 27-29. AAUW will offer each branch a spot in their a Wall of Fame, with room for a 3-way display for branch accomplishments. If you are interested in making this display, see Marilyn M.
