November 10, 2011 Meeting Minutes

December 7, 2011

The November meeting was called to order by Pres. Marilyn M at the Steele County History Center (see link)

Members Present:  Marilyn M, Loretta I, Mary M, Phyllis D, Karen V, Austra H, Suzie P, Betty B, Joanne S and Nancy V.

Minutes from October 13, 2011 were approved as submitted.

Treasurers Report:  A total of $2550 in checking account.  Estimated profit for Village Affair 2011 is $3109.63.  That is up from the 2010 VA profit total of $2005.36.

Committee Reports:

Program:  see below

Village Affair:  Sold 113.5 spaces for a total revenue of $2,270.00; $530 more than 2010.  Lunch vendor  The Highway Roost gave a 50% share of the profits from lunch sales, at a total of $478.  Quilt Raffle raised $527 this year (down from $560 in 2010).  Quilt raffle winner was Christine B-congrats!  She is thrilled and is displaying the quilt in the music room of her home.  Next year will be the 40th year for Village Affair.  Anyone who wants to be on the VA Committee, please come forward.  Final VA reports/tallys will be given at December meeting.

Old Business:
The opportunity to appoint a Branch Historian was again mentioned.  No volunteers have stepped forward.

New Business:  White Elephant Auction was explained.  Dec 8 meeting will bring two items of business:  a final VA Report and a vote on White Elephant Auction recipient.

Announcements:  January Book Discussion of Cinderella Ate My Daughter:  Books are NOW ON RESERVE for check-out at the BP Public Library.  Or you can buy a copy.  For a link to the book, click here.

AAUW statistic:  40% of girls have been cyber-bullied.

Meeting Adjourned.

Field trip to SCHS included a tour building and comments about the $3.3 M project.  Building is available for use for private parties, weddings, receptions, special events or community education.  Link in blogroll.
