January 13, 2011 Meeting Minutes
Our program for the evening was an inspiring PowerPoint presentation by BPHS Vocal Music Educator, Kari Bottin. The topic was her summer trip to Germany made possbile through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. To read more about Johann Sebastian Bach, click here and here.
Members present included: Karen V, Pam F, Beth K, Heidi H, Suzy P, Phyllis D, Jean P, Diane O, Loretta I, Marilyn M, Mary M, Marilyn W, Dianna V, Ellen S, and three guests.
After a break for refreshments, Marilyn M called the meeting to order at 8:25 pm. A thank you was issued to our December meeting guests and hosts, and a thank you to the January Speaker, Kari Bottin.
Treasurer Dianna V reported a balance in the AAUW checking account of $2586.62. The Boys and Girls Club of BP had already acknowledged receipt of our December gift amount of $250.00.
Program co-Chair Loretta I previewed our February guest speaker, BPHS Guidance Counselor Mary Worke. March’s meeting (Ghost Hunting!) will be a joint venture between AAUW and Community Education.

New Business: 2 Nominating Committee members will be appointed in February. Scholarship Committee will need to be selected as well. We will elect new officers at the April 2011 meeting. Offices needing volunteer commitment are: Treasurer, VP for Programs, and VP for Membership.
